Abstract

Digital technology (DT) is transforming teaching and learning in higher education (HE). This mixed-methods case study investigated students’ use and knowledge of DT and lecturers’ experiences of using it at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), Lesotho, guided by the technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) framework. Data were collected in the 2023 academic year from 120 final-year students (questionnaire with open and closed items), 18 lecturers (face-to-face interviews) and six classroom observations across the six faculties. Students generally reported positive perceptions of DT, but rated lecturers’ use of DT and access to DT resources lower. Lecturers cited unreliable internet, limited tools and insufficient training as barriers. DT is included in teaching and learning at LUCT, but infrastructure and training gaps remain. The study recommends that LUCT invest in training lecturers to use DT for teaching and learning.
